A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

Field and Stream is a family owned and run taxidermy company, co-owner and master taxidermist Tony Rathbone alongside his co-owner daughter Dominique.
Tony was born in Zambia and was brought up on stories of the great hunting days of the 1950s. Naturally, he grew up to have an innate love of nature, wildlife and hunting, and what began as a hobby many years ago turned into “Field and Stream Taxidermy” in 1986 in Louis Trichardt – a town at the foot of Songozwi, in the Soutpansberg mountain range in the Limpopo province and has gone on to become one of the largest studios in Southern Africa, employing 24 staff members.

WE PROCESS APPROXIMATELY 2250 TROPHIES EVERY YEAR, MAKING US ONE OF THE LEADING TAXIDERMISTS IN SOUTHERN-AFRICA

On the premises we have a curio and coffee shop that showcases our world class trophy room. Here you can stop in, view the collection in the showroom, enjoy a cup of coffee, take a tour of our facilities and shop gifts.

TROPHY MAINTENANCE

First and foremost, never hang your mount over a fireplace, wood stove, or any other heating unit. When most hunters consider where they want to put their trophy they think it would look great over a fireplace. We remember that is where grandad put his. Dry heat is the worst thing for a trophy mount, heat is a big no-no. Heat dries out the hide of a mounted animal, which causes it to shrink and causes the hair to become dry and brittle, making the trophy appear older than it actually is. Keeping your mount away from excessive dry heat will help it look good for a long time.
